Omigosh, that's the first sign that you actually read my post. There's hope for you yet.
but there are many problems with file hosting services
As I said, there is no problem ing large files using right-click... with FDM. I can't large files with Site Explorer. Obviously, this is not a problem with the hosting service.
Read that paragraph again and let it sink in.
I'll repeat - obviously this isn't a problem with the hosting service. That is the second time I've posted that now. Maybe you need to go read "How To Read A Forum Post" somewhere.
Further, I posted file permission information. This should be clear enough that this is my own server, and that I have full access to it, and control over it. Also, I said that smaller files are successfully ed, this also means that I am ed and can . Did you fail to understand? Or did I just have to explain it in simple so you'd understand?
otherwise you will be banned.
Seriously? This is how you're going to be helpful? With a threat? Just stop posting and let someone capable handle this.
You can big files by right-clicking, but not when using site explorer. There are no settings, that I could find, that limit site explorer size. Obviously it's an issue with site explorer, not the file server. Duh.
Perhaps site explorer doesn't properly when retrieving those files? That would explain the "unauthorized" html code. I assume that it logs in for each file, but I'm not positive. I just did a simple test, trying to a small file from my server without providing info. I got the same "401 Unauthorized" that you posted above. Trying again, with info, works fine.
So this sounds like a bug. Best read that post about filing a bug, and report this.
It seems like an easy thing to do would be to use site explorer to s the hundreds of files in the directories, then go back and right-click on the large ones. Hopefully there's not too many large files that are skipped by site explorer. There should only be a few on a Blu-Ray, so this should work out for you.
USHER: All the information needed was in his first post. You should be ashamed for continuing this farce, and blaming him. You are just too damned egotistical to it you're wrong. I had to create this just to try to end this ridiculousness.

This explanation has been ignored. Why?Usher wrote:It seems that in your case you should and to very big files from that site.
It's not a bug, it's a missing feature. You cannot provide name and in FDM in any way or any place you wish. It is Site Manager in FDM that should be used to manage credentials.steve28 wrote:So this sounds like a bug. Best read that post about filing a bug, and report this.
You can provide name and also in a standard "Add " dialog window, f.e. using right click on a single file in Site Explorer, but not on a folder or multiple file selection.
And only using Site Manager you can save credentials persistently for all the future s, so you should surely report a bug if credentials saved persistently in Site Manager are ignored.
Wrong. Here's what's missing to give proper answer without guessing:steve28 wrote:All the information needed was in his first post.
* There is no link or site name there.

- whether the site limits connection number for anonymous or non- s.
* There is no info that the has been logged in to the site before running Site Explorer.
* There is no info that the provided his credentials in FDM.

Please, read again. I said that site manager ed other files in the directories. Obviously I was logged in. Cripes you don't read well.
You are wrong again usher.
Usher wrote:Wrong. Here's what's missing to give proper answer without guessing:

There is no need to provide a site name. It's my private server, and it's not necessary to provide that.

I said that other files in the directories were ed successfully, just not the large ones. I said that I ed large files successfully, just not with site manager. And I showed that this was my own private server by showing the file permission. If you didn't understand that, say so.
* There is no info that the has been logged in to the site before running Site Explorer.
I said that other files in the directories were ed by site manager successfully, just not the large ones.

Huh? This is an issue with site manager. Not a browser. And I said that other files in the directories were ed by site manager successfully, just not the large ones.
* There is no info about any proxy, antivirus software or internet security suite that may cause timeout and break connection in the middle of the large .
I said that I could large files, just not with site manager. And how do you possibly conceive that a broken connection could cause a 401- Unauthorized error? You're grasping at straws with this BS.
* There is no info that he has searched the forum for similar topics or read any other topic at all, and with what results.
You got me there. I did search, but didn't mention that I did.
You really need to read better usher. And not jump to flame someone because you didn't.
Re: FDM 3.9 Release Candidate 1 16k3d
Again Alex & co.
I am asking for a very concrete solution.
Please port the Free manager to Linux.(ubuntu brainstorm is not helping)
It is a really great tool, which I have used during my
windows time, and I still use it for huge s.
(One of two things preventing me from wiping my NTFS partition & windows)
FDM is available under GPL and it is coded in C++
Love to see it on par with windows version(as a true Foss lover)
as under wine its very buggy(& slow)
Please guys show some opensource love
You guys can port it so please do

hi Scottes... why didn't you say, that it is on you private server, in you in your first post?
that information would maybe answer the hole bunch of questions immediately, about what url and so on... (in case you are really firm in istrating your private server well).
why are you reacting so harsh? FDM is free - be happy that they develop FDM for you in their "spare" time... you are only reporting one issue... the developer & s have to read many post of maybe issues from guys that do not make very precise reports - this is sometimes very stressful and sometimes boring to read similar big hoax posts.
Re: FDM 3.9 Release Candidate 1 16k3d
nice update.. i have been used FDM for 4 years, and i happy with it..
but, it would be perfect if FDM can directly streaming video from Google Chrome
I'm stop using firefox because its lagging and freezing sometimes..
Scottes, have you test your own private server with another manager?
I think FDM is developed to compatible for general sites (which many use that site).
FMD still have some issue that more important to be fixed than for your own private server issue
how can FDM developer can test and fix your issue if you do not provide your private server link
, ITS FREE. if you want to full compatible with your own private server, may you can buy another manager with full to your private server.
otherwise FDM is open source. you can FDM source, edit and compile it to compatible with your private server.

Hi!
Firefox releases new versions very often last times, I guess too often.
Besides, there are a lot of unstable versions of alphas and betas, which demand to perform full check testing before including addon into FDM release build.
It will take some time but, now you can try and install new version of addon separately:
http://files2.freemanager.sitesdebloques.org/f ... indows.xpi
I've added this new XPI to my Fx 14.0a1 Nightly build (14.0a1 (2012-03-25)) and it is not working, just like none of the other ones are working either.
Could this be because of it being a 64bit client instead of the 32bit client?

ROTFLMFAO. OK, you believe that, too, if you want.

Hahaha. Confirmed.
The plugin 1.5.7.1 works on Nightly 32bit but not on Nightly 64bit builds.
Welp - at least I now know why I've never had any success with the plugin, even after it was touted that it worked.

Re: FDM 3.9 Release Candidate 1 16k3d
Hi, I'm new to Forum but have very happily used FDM for years now.
I have just built a new PC based around Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Intel core i7 2600K with windows Ultimate 64 bit. Firefox 12 Beta (main browser) and IE 9 is installed but seldom used.
I am using the latest FDM RC and have done so for weeks.
It is set to start up with windows.
"Show ing progress window disabled
"Show info while in progress" enabled
"Drop Box is disabled (always - just my preference).
Problem: RANDOMLY upon windows boot up, the Drop box appears on screen.
When I go to my Windows Task Bar and Right Mouse click the FDM icon, the Drop box is NOT ticked. when I enter FDM main settings it is NOT enabled either.
I remove Drop Box by right mouse click enable Drop box (as expected nothing happens as it is already there) and then I un-tick it and Drop Box goes away. Drop box NEVER appears randomly during my every day hours longs sessions if not there at Start up or once I have disabled it as described above. I t seems something randomly fool and triggers it to appear.
The Drop box I would say appears Randomly at start up APPROX. average I'd say of 1 time in 6 start ups.
I did report message this issue with online messaging to but in that email I mentioned I got a blank grey bar appear on screen just before the FDM icon appeared in the Task bar. I am happy to confirm that was a "Red Herring" as it has something to do with the Asus AI Suite II program that comes with the motherboard. That program loads in difference sequences at Windows start up and I am convinced it has NO bearing on this FDM Drop box issue.

Thanks to the team for this new version, I really love FDM, it's the best ever in his kind !!!

Re: FDM 3.9 Release Candidate 1 16k3d
Regretfully, since I posted not being able to stop the Drop box sometimes appearing at Windows start up even though it has been disabled and still shows as disables when it appears in the menus, the situation has changed and drop box now seems to launch most times at Windows start up.
I originally emailed FDM some time ago and my above post was posted 10 days ago.
Am I posting in wrong place as I have not received any comment or acknowledgement to either (be it: "only on your PC so we will not be looking into your issue" , or, "we will check it out", or, "we have identified/suspect a possible cause" ,or, "can you try test for us and report findings").
THIS IS NOT A CRITICISM. I really appreciate the hard work put in on our behalf and the fact this wonderful application completes with (and IMHO is better) than several a few other pay for commercial applications. Hence why I care!
I accept I am not sure of the correct procedures to know where to report, expectations of response and timetable of response.
My Drop box problem is possibly being triggered by another application or Windows or non related Services, but as its the only application that seems to have a sensitivity and mis-performs ONLY on this aspect, it suggested it is something in FDM that needs to be adjusted.
I am willing to try the last stable release if it will work with Firefox 12 RC to see if the issue is new to the current FDM 3.9 RC 1 but before doing so need guidance on what and and what not to try and look out for. The reason I do not already know is that my current PC is a new build of 6 weeks with everything different including a switch from Win XP (x32) to Win 7 Ultimate (x64)
Is it possible to address the problem in a, temporary, different way? As I do not wish to use Drop box, is there by any chance, a specific dll or file that I could just delete, or if so would that trigger errors messages.
Kind Regards, Dave

@ dko:
I posted that problem (or maybe very similar to yours) already in January 2012 with the FDM Version 3.8 and Windows 7.

(check out the last post on this page)
I only didn't use the right words. I used " Button", which should be "Drop Box".
